Post 1 - History

Pac Man was first released in Japan in 1979 and it was released in the United States in 1980. Pac Man  is one of the most famous arcade games of all time. The game was developed by a man that worked for Namco.  His name is Toru Iwatani.  He has said that Pac Man's shape was made to look like a missing pizza slice but on an interview in 1986 he said that Pac Mans' shape came from rounding out the Japanese character for mouth. Pac-man was a cute, non-violent creature running away from ghost's. He was first named Puck Man, then it was changed to Pac Man because they thought that it would be too easy to vandalize by changing the P to an F spelling a cuss word. The world wide record was set by 33 year old Billy Mitchell with a total of 3,333,360 points Pac-man supposedly has no ending as long as you keep 1 life, but there is a bug on level 256, so the right half of the screen makes random symbols, making the level unbeatable. If the level is cleared the game resets so you go back to level 1. In December 1982, Jeffrey R. Yee, [ 8 years old ] apparently got a letter from president Ronald Reagan saying congratulations on getting a score of 6,131,940 points. This could only happen if he beat the split screen level [ level 256 ]. In 1999 Billy Mitchell offered $100,000 to anyone that could beat the split screen level before January 1, 2000; no one got $100,000. Pac-man was so popular they made ms. Pac-man, Jr. Pac-man, a cartoon show, t-shirts, mugs, bed sheets, pencils, and many more products. Pac-man is one of the most popular games ever made. From 1980 to 2000 pac-man had been played near 10 billion times. It is still played in the United States, Japan and other places that Pac Man has gone to.  Pac Man is in some arcades and you can also find it on your computer.

Post 3 - How To

How to Beta test video games



You will need

• Internet access
• game console
• be able to play game at home

Step 1. Get a job as a game tester with a company to do in your house.

Step 2. On your computer fill out a form to be a game tester for all 

major companies like microsoft, sony, nintendo, etc.

Step 3. Keep track of new game testing job openings, use the

free testing information, don't pay money.

Step 4. Stay updated on game testing offers and news.

Post 5 - Summary

I chose Pac-man as a topic because it was the first thing that popped in my head when I found out we were making a blog. For the History post it was pretty easy to find information because Pac-man is popular so there were a lot of sites, it was just kind of hard to put the information together. When we had to find information for our Questions post it got harder because I never got a strait answer from the Internet, but thinking of Questions was easy. For the How-To post it was not that hard to make it because I just had to paraphrase the information, but it was hard to think of something to do for my How-To post because there were not that many things related to Pac-man that I could do for my How-To post. At first the Bibliography was really challenging because I did not really get how to do it, but once I started doing it on the blog it was pretty easy. When I found out I had to make a blog I was really nervous, for example when Ms. Dunn told us this blog was worth 1,000 points of our writing grade I freaked out. But as we went along it got easier and a lot more fun.

 Overall this project was one of the hardest and one of the most fun assignments I have ever had.
